GALLERY236 is overjoyed to announce their inaugural exhibition presenting Russ Bryant’s Through the Veil: A Dialogue with Silence encompasses the artist’s latest three series of paintings, sculptures and a selection of pastels from their archive.

Through the Veil captures the life of Russ Bryant who has lived in silence for the past 25 years. A grand overview as well as an oracle, it is art that transcends what it is to focus on a dialogue with paint and canvas. It touches us in a way which requires our own reflection: our own inner dialogue. And it takes us to a place of grandeur within. The show moves through a gamut of emotions, elations and inquiries. There is an underlying current of peace and tranquility as much as there is a factor of awe and inspiration.

Colors are abundant, as there is no fear of blending colors across the spectrum into a dialogue allowing the viewer’s emotions to be both defined and recalibrated. Shapes are a language which captivate, hold court, inspire, or simply transfix. Jubilation is palpable, which may be the crux of the entire affair.

The artist states, “I have spent the past 25 years immersed in deep silent meditation. As an artist this journey has revealed a connection to a different paradigm. Where shapes, colors, context, meaning, intuition come to me in a language which supersedes words. My daily life is filled with visions, which I, as a conduit, interpret into a dialogue.

Whether I hear symphonies, see landscapes unknown previously, or delve into an inner dialogue with paint as a medium, the work never stops. My job is to capture and convey. And inspire. For what else is there in the lifetime? Idle chatter is abundant. And most conversations I would prefer to have as a language without words. So I envision and paint. It is the calling in the epoch of time which is my life.”

Russ Bryant lives and works in Los Angeles where he spends his days immersed in deep meditation and reflection as a painter.
